Position Overview:
We are seeking a full-time Direct Support Professional/Medication Technician who is dedicated
to improving health outcomes for individuals with developmental disabilities. In this role, you will
support clients with activities of daily living, implement individualized care plans, monitor
behaviors, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to maintain a safe, inclusive, and
supportive environment.
This position also carries responsibility for medication administration, ensuring clients receive
the correct medications and dosages in accordance with physician orders. The role includes
working closely with psychiatrists and medical providers to support ongoing evaluation of
medication regimens and contribute to recommendations when adjustments may be
appropriate.
This is an ongoing, full-time position approximately 32-40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on support to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting with activities of daily living (personal hygiene, meals, medications) while promoting independence and well-being
- Implement individualized care plans and behavioral strategies to maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment, and facilitate social/recreational activities to enhance quality of life
- Document services, track progress, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Administer and monitor medications, including subcutaneous injections, ensuring accuracy, proper storage, and adherence to physician orders
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support client health outcomes and contribute informed recommendations regarding medication management
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in California.
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities is highly valued.
- Familiarity with caregiving, assisted living, social work, nursing home, or transitional housing environments.
- Strong interpersonal skills (written and verbal communication), with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, families, and colleagues.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment for individuals in your care.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
