ASRC Federal System Solutions, an ASRC Federal subsidiary, is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center team. Under the direction of a Work Group Lead this position provides support of pre-flight setup, real-time support and system monitoring and maintenance of all Dryden Aeronautical Test Range communication systems.
This role is located at NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center on Edwards Air Force Base, near Palmdale/Lancaster, CA. As a part of this team, you will be required to work a 9/80 schedule with typical hours of 6:30am-4:00pm with occasional overtime (weekdays or weekends) to support mission flight operations.
Responsibilities:
Perform pre-mission setup of systems to meet mission requirements and in accordance with written procedures.
Operate and monitor the Comm/FTS system during all phases of mission support.
Provide technical assistance to RCO during real-time operations.
Perform preventative, corrective maintenance and repair of all hardware systems.
Perform light maintenance of LMR systems to include minor programming.
Capture and archive real time data
Operate all ISS/VHF and NASCOM/NTR equipment
Perform periodic network testing
Troubleshoot technical issues
Train and mentor lower-level personnel.
Requirements:
Associate degree in Electronics Technology or a closely related field or completion of formal training in an accredited commercial or military electronics school. Minimum of 6 years of related work experience, including working in aircraft and/or spacecraft testing and range operations.
In-depth knowledge of electronic equipment principles and test equipment used for fault isolation.
In-depth knowledge of analog and digital communications equipment such as central equipment switching systems, industrial PC/Windows-based communications support systems, recording systems, and radio frequency (RF) systems.
Maintain a valid Driver’s License and possess a REAL ID
Work in a team environment, under deadlines, and in ISO/AS9100 compliance.
Must be U.S. Citizen with the ability obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Clearance

Physical Requirements:

Ability to pass a heavy equipment physical exam required to operate motorized equipment such as forklifts, bucket lifts and platform personnel lifts. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. Ability to climb stairs and ladders. Work location is in a desert environment, and employees are in contact with various desert wildlife. Occasional travel is required.
