Hourly Range: Technical Assistant $22.26-$25.77

Senior Technical Assistant - $27.06-31.32

Classification: Temporary

FLSA: Non-Exempt – Overtime Eligible


 

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, the Technical Assistant provides administrative and project coordination support to ensure timely and effective communications operations for the Community Development Department. This role's primary focus is support for content creation, media production, website management, and graphic design initiatives across digital and print platforms.

A Senior Technical Assistant would include all the duties listed above and demonstrate advanced proficiency in multi-media programs. Will act as a project lead on most of the communications efforts, programs, and projects for the Community Development Department.


 The level of this position will be determined based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

 

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:


Technical Assistant:

  • Assist in the creation, editing, and distribution of reports, web design, magazine articles, press releases, and other written and multi-media communications.
  • Support media production through content development, fact-checking, and coordinating with contributors.
  • Assist with graphic design tasks for marketing materials, digital content, and print publications.
  • Assist with building and maintaining webpages and websites.
  • Coordinate schedules, meetings, and events related to communications projects.
  • Maintain filing system for department documents.
  • Update paperwork, maintain documents, and word processing.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Senior Technical Assistant includes the above in addition to the following:

  • Serve as a project lead on all communications-related tasks, programs, and projects for the department.
  • Lead meetings and/or train staff on new department programs, as necessary.

The duties listed above are not intended to be all-inclusive. An employee may also perform other related duties as assigned by their immediate supervisor. This position is considered non-exempt.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suites
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with staff, community members, and stakeholders.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to fast-paced environment.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva), photography and editing, videography and editing, web design, social media platforms.

Education and Experience:

  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance.
  • Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field is desirable.
  • Previous experience in communications, journalism, graphic design, or related fields is desirable.
