Summary

The Operations Supervisor oversees the Organic Compost Facility daily operations to ensure the highest standards of safety and operations are followed. The Operation Supervisor is responsible for providing the highest quality of leadership to the sites staff and processes.

Job Description

Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversees the daily operations of organic compost facility.

  • Maximize product demands efficiently, cost effective and safely.

  • Ensures the highest standards of safety and operations are followed.

  • Ensures quality of product meets market standards by understanding all local and state compliance and environmental requirements/regulations.

  • Oversees the work and schedules of staff in order to meet product needs and demands.

  • Makes continuous effort to maximize production and efficiency at the site without compromising safety of employees, customers, and/or vendors.

  • Oversees the cleanliness of the facility.

  • Ensures all staff participate in mandatory safety meetings.

  • Responsible for verifying accuracy of employee time keeping requirements, approving and submitting weekly payroll.

  • Investigates and completes proper documentation for work related injuries, accidents/incidents in a timely manner.

  • Actively involved with any staff recruitment and disciplining issues.

  • Properly guide and mentor employees.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have working knowledge/industry experience of organic or composting operations.

  • Must understand all local and state permit compliance and environmental.

  • Must have strong communication skills, decision making skills, negotiation skills, customer service skills and effectively interface with general public and government regulatory agencies.

  • Must be able to operate heavy equipment and be willing to obtain Commercial license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Bilingual English / Spanish.

  • Strong organizational, problem solving and communication skills.

  • Knowledgeable in DOT and OSHA regulations.

Physical/Environmental Demands:

Physical:

  • Standing, walking, seeing, hearing, & smelling continuously.

  • Problem solving, oral communication, analytical ability, concentration, exposure to heavy machinery, & eye/hand coordination, & handling continuously.

  • Bending, reaching, stretching, crouching, & lifting ≀ 50 Lbs. continuously.

  • Exposure to unprotected heights occasionally.

Environmental:

  • Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, chemicals, wet slippery surfaces, hot/cold conditions, & noise continuously.

  • Works inside and outside.

Salary: $70,304 - $92,335/year
